Amy Frances Johnston is a London-based printed textiles designer. Born in Northern Ireland, Johnston moved to London to study and since graduating in 2015 from Central Saint Martins has gone on to work for fashion brands including CELINE and COS.
Amy’s work captures the essence of innocence and humour through abstract studies of colour and pattern. Emotionally charged by a deep connection to her home landscape, her printed textiles naturally take an abstract form, often with a naïve and vivid use of colour and bold shapes. Her printed textiles often communicate through large flat areas of colour and expressive mark‑making.
Amy’s methods are fairly traditional as she enjoys mixing and messing with the traditions between the fine and applied arts as an artist, designer and printmaker.
