Ava Asaadi is a visual artist and design researcher based in the Netherlands. Since training in textiles at Central Saint Martins, she has been working in set design for fashion while developing her practice.
Ava explores ancient magic practices through her design research and how this has developed within contemporary culture. She represents this fascination through jewellery to embellish the body with precious materials that symbolise protection. She sources these materials from bazaars in Tehran, Iran, which consist of gemstones and glass beads that she assembles with metals to create her pieces.
Ava’s collaboration with Inland has prompted her to question her own design process as she takes on alternative methods of material investigation. She continues her research at the Design Academy Eindhoven where she is currently studying Contextual Design, MA.
